After President Biden's firey State of the Union, we bore witness to a historic moment in political communication (in a... kitchen), one that will be remembered not for its eloquence or vision but for its... well, unnerving bouncing from TikTok tradwife to full-on fascist. And, it's fair to say none of us will ever be able to move past the lack of blinking. Senator Katie Britt, armed with pre-speech Reagan comparisons, embarked on what can only be described as maybe the furthest thing from "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" in history. The morning after Britt's performance, as the Republican echo chamber lacks even a mere clip of last night's mind-boggling spectable, we can only assume that Katie Britt is mourning the death of her political career. Here at Indivisible, we're sending our thoughts and prayers to the real MVP, Katie's Communications Director, Sean, as he embarks on a journey to debrief what in the hell happened last night and well, what he wants to do with his life.
Update: Turns out Katie is also a liar and Sean's very bad couple of days just got worse. On Friday, March 8th, it was revealed by former AP reporter Jonathan Katz that the story Katie Britt used to criticize President Biden's border policies actually took place when George W. Bush was president. As the New York Times wrote, "In other words: None of this happened during President Biden’s administration, nor does it appear to have anything to do with his policies regarding the U.S. border with Mexico. But that didn’t stop the first-term senator from strongly implying that the president could have somehow prevented it from happening, using rhetoric that seemed calibrated to inflame public fears about immigration."
Sign the sympathy card for Senator Katie Britt's Communications Director, Sean.
