Urge Democrats to Fiercely Oppose the New GOP Effort to Shovel Billions More Dollars to ICE and Border Patrol

After keeping the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shut down for months because they refuse to enact the ICE and Border Patrol reforms that Americans overwhelmingly want, Republicans are now using a legislative process known as budget reconciliation to shower even more taxpayer funding on these unaccountable agencies.

Republicans want to give ICE and Border Patrol up to $140 billion more to fund their concentration camps and militarized deployments to US cities. That’s all on top of the $170 billion Republicans already pumped into their mass deportation machine in last year’s Big Ugly Bill – paid for, of course, by cutting Medicaid and SNAP.

Nearly all Congressional Democrats have held the line, remaining united in their opposition to any further funding for Trump’s secret police and demanding ironclad guardrails to end their violence and impunity – but only because we demanded they fight back. Our elected representatives must use every available lever to delay, obstruct, and build public opposition to Republicans’ outrageous spending on an army of masked federal agents, at the expense of desperately needed funding for essential services that families rely on.

Email your Democratic Members of Congress and urge them to use every tool at their disposal to fight any budget reconciliation bill that will shovel more taxpayer dollars to ICE and Border Patrol.

Dear Senator/Representative,

I’m writing to urge you to use every tool at your disposal to fight any budget reconciliation bill that shovels more taxpayer dollars to ICE and Border Patrol. Republicans already voted to give them the budget of a small army last year, and now they're trying to use the reconciliation process to give these agencies billions more.

Enough. Let’s focus on funding healthcare and housing instead of shoveling even more money to these out of control agencies. I urge you to vote NO on the reconciliation legislation and use all available leverage to delay, obstruct, and build public opposition to Republicans’ backwards spending priorities that make hardworking families suffer to fuel Trump’s mass deportation machine.
