Tell your senators to rein in ICE NOW

On January 24, federal forces with the Department of Homeland Security killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. This was just over two weeks after the killing of Renee Nicole Good. These killings are a direct result of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.

And yet, the DHS appropriations bill that is up for a vote in the Senate this week would hand MORE funding to ICE and Border Patrol, and do little to rein in their abuses.

We must demand our senators—especially our Democratic senators—refuse to give ICE one more penny of taxpayer money or vote for any funding bill that doesn’t get ICE and Border Patrol out of our cities.

Specifically we are asking that Senators withhold their votes from any legislation funding DHS unless it:

  • Stops ICE and Border Patrol from receiving more funding
  • Restricts ICE and Border Patrol’s ability to target people based on their race, language or accent, place of employment, or location at the time of the apprehension
  • Stops ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at designated ‘sensitive locations’ such as houses of worship, day cares, and hospitals
  • Stops ICE or Border Patrol from family detention or increasing private detentions
  • Ends Border Patrol deployment to our cities and rejects its ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement

Use this tool to instantly contact your senators with a clear message: Protect our communities by reining in ICE NOW.

The email to your Senators:

Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I urge you to refuse to vote for any appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security that fails to rein in ICE and Border Patrol and protect our communities.

Alex Pretti and Renee Good’s killings are unacceptable. Enough is enough. This is a result of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies. You cannot stand by while ICE continues to harm communities across the country.

As a member of Congress, you have the power to limit the administration's abuse of power by:

  • Refusing to vote for any FY2026 appropriations bill that includes increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol, including funds for detention. The existing system allowed at least 32 people to die in custody in 2025 alone, the deadliest year ever, while thousands of others suffer physical and sexual abuse, medical neglect, and degrading conditions.
  • Refusing to vote for any appropriations bill for DHS unless it:
    • Stops ICE and Border Patrol from receiving more funding
    • Restricts ICE and Border Patrol’s ability to target people based on their race, language or accent, place of employment, or location at the time of the apprehension
    • Stops ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at designated ‘sensitive locations’ such as houses of worship, day cares, and hospitals
    • Stops ICE or Border Patrol from family detention or increasing private detentions
    • Ends border patrol deployment to our cities and rejects its ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement

Every member of Congress must insist on real limits and accountability before any funding is approved.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you standing up for the safety, dignity, and rights of all people in our communities.
