Write a letter to the editor holding Republicans accountable for standing by Trump

Context

Donald Trump has been indicted on multiple charges related to his attempt to overturn the election and subvert our democracy on January 6. But Republicans in Congress continue to stand by him. Worse, they continue to push his Big Lie -- including through insidious legislation like the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, which would make it easier for Trump and other dishonest politicians to try to overturn election results.

We need to call them out and shine a light on their ongoing complicity in Trump's crimes.

Donald Trump is a national embarrassment. His continued prominence in our politics despite multiple criminal indictments – not to mention his culpability for fraud, rape, and more –  brings shame on us all, and poses a grave threat to our once-strong democracy.

But equally serious is the continued support of Trump and his Big Lie by GOP members of Congress. Even now, they’re working to boost his chances by targeting our elections with the so-called ACE act. Where is the line? How much is enough for them? Does a line even exist, or are they so obsessed with getting and keeping power that they’re willing to tolerate ANYTHING, even Conspiracy to Defraud the United States and Espionage Act charges, to do so?

When [REPLACE: Republican Representative's Name] continues to stand by Trump despite his repeated attacks on our voters and our democracy, they are stained with the same shame, and they bear responsibility. It’s time for them to say ENOUGH and stand with our communities and our democracy, rather than the man who tried to overthrow it.
