Context
It’s been over a year since SCOTUS struck down Roe v. Wade and our constitutional right to abortion. Now, two dozen states have instituted abortion bans and left millions of people without access to the reproductive health care they need and deserve.

Democrats can fight back against these abortion bans by coming together to pass federal legislation to protect and expand our reproductive rights. Write your letter to the editor today to ask your Member of Congress (MoC) to be a champion for reproductive freedom and cosponsor the following legislation:
- H.R. 782 – Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act
- H.R. 3420 – My Body, My Data Act of 2023
- H.R. 4303 – Abortion Justice Act

Sample: Democrats are fighting back against MAGA attacks on reproductive rights

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, 24 Republican-led legislatures have instituted egregious abortion bans, preventing millions of people from making their own reproductive health decisions or accessing necessary medical care.

Abortion bans disproportionately hurt Black, brown, and low-income communities – which is just par for the course for MAGA Republicans. But MAGA cruelty knows no limits and these anti-abortion lawmakers have taken these bans to new, extreme levels, even though voters have made it clear time and again that restricting reproductive rights is overwhelmingly unpopular.

Our bodily autonomy should not depend on what state we live in. We need Democrats in Congress to fight back against Republicans’ relentless anti-abortion agenda and support federal legislation to protect reproductive freedom for all.

Representative [REPLACE: your Representative's name here] has already taken a critical first step by cosponsoring the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade. But there’s more that can be done to protect – and expand – our reproductive rights.

Some abortion bans have tried to criminalize both traveling out of state to seek abortion care and helping someone receive legal care. The Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act would affirm the right to travel to receive legal abortion care, protecting patients, providers, and anyone else who helps someone travel for care.

We’ve also seen that MAGA Republicans can and will exploit the lack of regulations around reproductive health data entered into online apps and search engines to go after people they suspect have received abortion care. The My Body, My Data act would protect personal reproductive health data by creating a national standard for what data can be collected, saved, or shared.

And while it’s critical that we continue to fight for the reproductive rights that we’ve lost, we also need to expand our rights even further. The Abortion Justice Act does that by addressing the systemic barriers and systemic racism in reproductive health care to ensure that everyone, everywhere can actually access care.

These bills are critical to ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access abortion care, which we know is a winning issue at the polls. We’re counting on Rep.
