Trump isn’t done trying to make life harder for Medicaid recipients. His new tactic: a sneak attack in partnership with Republican governors (and even some Democratic governors) to condition Medicaid eligibility on work requirements.
Work requirements simply do not work.
They disproportionately impact low-income populations, many of whom work in seasonal and temporary jobs. The threat of losing their health care because they were out of work for a month can be devastating. If you want to encourage people to work, taking away their ability to get and stay healthy is counterproductive.
While the Trump administration has said it will approve work requirements, your governors hold the power to decide whether to submit the requests to the administration in the first place. Governors must come out and say they will not ask for a work requirement.
Learn more here and tell your governor and Member of Congress (MoC) not to line up with Trump to take health care away from people relying on Medicaid. You can click here to see if your state has requested a waiver to implement a work requirement for Medicaid.
